- "It has been a challenging year (for the bank, the team, you). We hope you understand."
- "It could have been
worse; you could have got nothing!"
- "Don't take it
personally."
- "Once we paid out the guaranteed bonuses and others, there wasn't much left over."
- "There's nothing I
can do about it, so there is no point in complaining."
- "At least you still
have a job!"
